Year 8 students spend half their Outdoor Education week at
Camp Ibis, undertaking various initiative challenges, including the amazing
race. The other half of the week is
spent living and travelling on the nearby Mitchell River, by means of white
water rafts. Students must work as a
team to navigate, manoeuvre, camp, cook and enjoy the beauty of the National
Park as the journey down the river, under the guidance of Outdoor Education
staff and professional raft guides.
A side trip to the Den of Nargun, a sacred aboriginal site,
allows time to learn and reflect on the indigenous people of the area.
