The year 6 program extends the learning and challenges from
the previous years camp. A five day
camp, held in term 3. The focus of the
week is risk taking, stepping outside one’s comfort zone, and how the support
of peers can help you cope with challenges and change. Students continue their learning of the local
environment, looking at the different animals that appear at different times of
the year. They also explore the
limestone formations of the famous Buchan caves, camping out at Buchan for one
night – which also serves as an introduction to lightweight camping.
Activities may include caving, camping, cooking on trangias,
sailing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, bush cooking and
initiative challenges.
