Participation in sporting teams is a vital developmental experience for students throughout their school lives. All students at St Leonard's are able to participate in cocurricular sport on several levels.
The House System provides a healthy competition for sports teams playing at an intra-college level.
St Leonard's sports teams also compete in a number of inter-school competitions at both campuses. Many St Leonard's students move successfully into state teams as a result of their performances for the College.

Inter-School Opportunities
Participation in inter-school sport is compulsory for students from years 7 - 11, and optional (but encouraged) for year 12 students.
Inter-school sport at St Leonard's takes place during the school week and involves regular training sessions as well as matches. St Leonard's College does not participate in any Saturday sport competitions.
St Leonard's College is a member of several inter-school sporting associations, including:
- The Association of Coeducational Schools (ACS)
- The Co-educational Independent Primary Schools Sports Association (CIPPSA)
- The Carrum Downs School Sports Association (CDSSA)
- The Southern Independent Schools (SIS)
Membership of a variety of associations ensures breadth of opportunity for all students to participate.
Primary-aged students at St Leonard's participate in a wide variety of inter-school sports, often on a rotational basis. Students from year 7 - 11 participate in a sport of their choice, including netball, soccer, hockey, tennis, table tennis, football, touch football, volleyball, basketball, cricket and softball. Both campuses compete in the ACS athletics, swimming and cross-country carnivals, which are held annually.
