Another Wonderful Community Day Fair

Months of anticipation and hard work culminated in another brilliant St Leonard’s College Community Day Fair on Saturday 19 March 2016. The College grounds looked a treat as large and very enthusiastic crowds flocked through the gates, keen to take part in favourite activities from previous years and see what was new in 2016.

There was plenty to see and do for all ages, from rides to food and books stalls, lucky dips, face painting, the celebrity swim race, Easter egg hunt and much more. Overwhelmingly conversations focused on the beautiful vibe around the College and what it meant to be part of such a vibrant and friendly community.

The Community Day Fair is the College’s major annual fundraiser and this year funds raised are being directed towards the development of two STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) laboratories to support the educational development of our STEM programs. In these learning spaces, students will combine the use of new technologies such as 3D printing, solar cells and robotics with simple materials to build working models that address current challenges in the world.

It takes a mammoth effort on behalf of many volunteers from our College community to ensure Community Day Fair goes off without a hitch. The planning, organisation and hands-on preparation prior to, on the day of, and in the days following the fair, is quite extraordinary. The College extends its particular thanks to our Community Day Fair committee, a team of dedicated parents, for their tireless work, energy and passion.

The College’s appreciation is also extended to the performing arts teachers and students who enthralled us with their vast array of brilliant musical and theatrical performances, as well as all the other students, parents and staff who volunteered their time so generously.
