Year 8 student Bella Sewards had an action-packed term 2 holiday break, leading the Victorian Under 15 girls soccer team to victory at the Football Federation Australia Youth National Championships. Bella was co-captain of the state team that travelled to Coffs Harbour for the championships, playing eight matches over five days. The Victorian girls came out on top for the first time in nearly two decades, an amazing achievement and testament to the hard work of Bella and her teammates.
Following her fantastic performance at the Youth National Championships, Bella has been invited to attend a training camp for the Junior Matildas, the Australian Under 17 Women’s National Team. Twenty-eight girls from around Australia have been invited to attend the camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, and at 13 years old Bella is one of the youngest selected.
At the conclusion of the camp, selections will be made for the under 17 team to represent Australia in the Asia Cup later this year.
Bella’s selection for the Junior Matildas training camp is an incredible honour and privilege. The College is very proud of her outstanding achievements in soccer and wishes her the very best of luck at the camp and beyond.
