The ACS Cross Country Carnival was held on Friday 26 August, and St Leonard’s College maintained its dominance, bringing home the overall trophy for the third year in a row. In an outstanding achievement, our team also secured both the girls and boys aggregate trophies and several year level pennants.
It was a tight finish at the end of the day, with every student’s race making a valuable contribution to the final result. It was wonderful to see such great spirit and enthusiasm from all competitors, and each student should be proud of their efforts and feel part of the victory.
Performances were consistently strong across all year levels, and in addition to the three major trophies our team secured the following pennants:
- Year 7 Boys
- Year 7 Aggregate
- Year 9 Boys
- Year 9 Aggregate
- Year 10 Boys
- Year 10 Aggregate
- Year 11 Girls
- Year 11 Aggregate
- Year 12 Boys
- Year 12 Aggregate
There were some outstanding individual performances on the day with eight students gaining medals, including Pavel Kuznetsov (Year 7 Boys Champion), Emily Dare (Year 10 Girls Champion) and Catherine Brochard-Lalande (Year 11 Girls Champion).
Many of the students involved in Cross Country have put in hours of training throughout the year, as part of Running Club twice a week as well as attendance at Saturday morning training sessions in the lead up to the Carnival. Congratulations to all members of the Cross Country team on their dedication and preparation, and for their remarkable performances at the Carnival. It was truly a team effort, and our clean sweep reinforces the strength of our sport programs.
