St Leonard’s College students are equipped with a comprehensive support system to guide them through the critical phase of subject selection and pathway exploration.
Through a series of tailored initiatives, students gain invaluable insights into their academic strengths and career aspirations.
At the outset, students engage in Morrisby Testing, a pivotal assessment tool, followed by personalised consultations with the Course Counsellor in Term 2. These sessions are instrumental in identifying individual subject aptitudes and course prerequisites, laying a solid foundation for informed decision-making.
Further bolstering this process are key events such as the VCE/IB Information night and Booth Night, where students and their families receive vital information and resources to navigate the complexities of the VCE and IB Diploma Programme.
Upon submission of subject selection forms, rigorous reviews are conducted by dedicated coordinators and faculty heads, ensuring alignment with students’ aspirations and academic capabilities. Approaches to Learning are also considered alongside academic performance, fostering a holistic approach to student development. This collaborative approach underscores the College’s commitment to student success and well-being.
As students progress into Year 12, they embark on a five-subject VCE program, with any reduction in load subject to careful consideration and review, ensuring the preservation of academic rigor and integrity throughout their VCE journey.
At St Leonard’s College, the VCE experience is not just about academic achievement but also about nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped for the challenges of tomorrow.
