In the St Leonard’s College Environmental Action Group, students from Years 5 and 6, Years 7 to 9, and Years 10 to 12 come together to make a positive impact on our environment.
St Leonard’s College is dedicated to crafting an education that prepares students for life, emphasising the development of compassionate, responsible, and globally minded citizens. In alignment with our ‘True North’ strategic direction, our Social Responsibility Program integrates our core ideas to focus specifically on social action and sustainability.
Sustainability and Environmental Action
At St Leonard’s College, students have the opportunity to participate in our Environmental Action Group. Students from Years 5 and 6, Years 7 to 9, and Years 10 to 12 come together to make a positive impact on our environment. Our Junior School students are mentored by peers from the Social Responsibility Council in Years 10 to 12.
Meetings for each group are conveniently scheduled during lunchtime, making it easy for students to participate without disrupting their regular school day.
The Environmental Action Group operates throughout the year, offering a consistent and engaging experience for participants. Our inclusive approach ensures that everyone is welcome, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
Our students’ achievements speak volumes about their commitment to environmental stewardship. Initiatives like school sustainability assessments, the introduction of coffee cup recycling, and the creation of a garden for Lennie’s Van showcase our College’s dedication to making a difference. Additionally, the group’s collaboration with the Social Responsibility Council enables funds to be secured for projects that address specific community needs.
St Leonard’s College is deeply committed to shaping a greener and more sustainable future. The Social Action Group inspires positive change and instils a lifelong passion for environmental responsibility in the next generation.
