The St Leonard’s College Model United Nations Program is an empowering journey for students in Years 9 to 12 to immerse themselves in the world of diplomacy, global issues, and public speaking.”
The Model UN Program typically runs between terms 2 and 3. Engaging in weekly meetings in the lead-up to competitions, students delve into the intricacies of international relations, preparing for challenges that arise during the competitions (usually held between May and August each year).
Skills Development:
Model UN competitions serve as a unique platform for students interested in politics, global issues, and social action. The program provides a simulated exercise that enables participants to practise and enhance their public speaking, negotiation, and teamwork skills. At St Leonard’s College, we encourage students to consider Model UN as an extension of their studies, offering a valuable opportunity to engage with real-world scenarios and develop critical life skills.
Why Choose Model UN?
  • Develop public speaking and presentation skills
  • Hone negotiation and diplomatic abilities
  • Cultivate teamwork and collaboration
  • Explore real-world global issues in a simulated environment
Achievements:
Last year, our Model United Nations teams demonstrated exceptional prowess, with several reaching the metropolitan finals and one distinguished team earning the honour of representing the College at the state final held at Parliament House. These achievements underscore our commitment to fostering excellence in public speaking, negotiation, and teamwork.
Throughout this enriching journey our students not only expand their knowledge of international affairs but also build essential life skills that will serve them well in future endeavours. At St Leonard’s College, we believe in empowering students to become confident, informed, and globally aware leaders of tomorrow through the Model United Nations program.
