Application Process
“
We welcome applications from offshore students wishing to join St Leonard’s College – Melbourne’s Bayside school of choice.”
An Offshore Student Application Form must be completed for all applicants who are located outside of Australia (offshore) at the time of application, regardless of their residency status. Payment of a non-refundable AUD $300 application fee is required.
Admission is subject to the availability of places, satisfactory interview and assessment, the College’s capacity to provide an appropriate program for the child and acceptance of the College Terms of Business. Upon receipt of the completed Offshore Student Application, your child’s name will be added to the waiting list of those seeking entry in the year(s) and at the year level(s) nominated.
Families seeking entry within six months (for commencement at the beginning of the following school year or part-way through a current school year) should contact the Admissions Office via email at [email protected] or phone +61 3 9909 9490 prior to submitting an Offshore Student Application.
Families should ensure they have read and understood the College Terms of Business and the College Admissions Policy (available at the bottom of this page) prior to submitting an Offshore Student Application.
Entry Levels
The College welcomes applications for places in ELC3, ELC4, Prep, Years 5, 7 and 10. Limited places are also available in other year levels as they arise.
For the Early Learning Centre, applications for enrolment are ordered based on the period of time between the Application for Enrolment being received by the College and the date of the student’s birth. To be eligible for admission into the Early Learning Centre (ELC) at the beginning or during the school year, children must be three years of age by the end of January in the year of entry for ELC3. Entry directly into Prep following completion of ELC3 is not offered. Please note that under the State Government’s ‘No Jab, No Play’ legislation, the College is unable to provide enrolment into the Early Learning Centre without proof of up-to-date vaccinations.
Selection
Some applicants (depending on places available) will be invited to attend an interview with the Head of the appropriate section of the College, which the parents or guardians and student attend online or in person (with the exception of ELC and Prep interviews which are conducted in person).
Current school reports and the results of any external education-related testing undertaken are required prior to interview.
The selection process for Years 5 and 7 commences two years or more in advance. Selection for all other year levels commences six to twelve months in advance. The College will continue to arrange enrolment interviews for each year level until such time as all places are offered and accepted.
If a place is available for your child, a formal offer will require payment of a non-refundable enrolment confirmation fee along with a signed acceptance of the College Terms of Business, and may require payment of an enrolment bond which is deducted from tuition fees following completion of a specified period of student attendance at the College.
Please refer to the College Admissions Policy (available at the bottom of this page) for further information about offer acceptance requirements.
